Check out The Game Room World Tour on The-Well Red Mage featuring game room tours from all over the place including my cringe worthy tour as well, come and throw rotten tomatoes!

It is also not too late to submit your own game room tour because this post will be updated throughout the month with more tours, so make sure to follow along and wish The Well-Red Mage a happy birthday while you stop by!

The Well-Red Mage

‘Ere she is! Introducing the Game Room World Tour, a collab for everyone!

For the past several weeks, I’ve been inviting anyone and everyone to show off. Who doesn’t love showing off? This collab encouraged people to share video tours of their gaming spaces, living rooms, dens, men and women caves, lairs, and so on, all of which are to be gathered in this post, the Hub.

Full disclosure: my own video tour is not quite ready yet. I ended up getting a Wii U and original Game Boy for my birthday and I’d rather wait till they arrive before recording (plus there’s some extra nonsense about shelves and lighting I kind of want to sort out). All is not lost, though!

I didn’t want to cancel the event just because I didn’t make the date, so instead, I decided I should feature the video tours that did come in…

“Calling All Writers: Collabs, Contributors, Community, and Magic!”

The Well-Red Mage

There’s a party going on right here!

Actually, it’s more like a movement.

Ok, so maybe it’s more appropriate to call it a “special calling”.

Whatever it is, it’s magical…

Our world is dominated by a vicious news cyclone. The mainstream is clogged with controversies and culture wars, polluted with politics. A new game comes out and there’s a pretty big chance that it’s going to attract another spat between consumers and reporters. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen surrounding any other form of entertainment.

Beyond the big brands in games writing, IGN, Polygon, Kotaku, and the like, you’re left with a host of smaller content creators, your podcasters, social media influencers, streamers, YouTubers, and writers. It’s that last group I’m most interested in. Writers have a huge uphill battle not just to get noticed, but to find some kind of compensation for their time and efforts, even in a…

What’s up, everybody? I’ve had the honor of playing Pillars of Eternity for the Switch before the public release to give you a better idea of how this port has turned out. I didn’t play the original so I won’t be able to let you know how it stacks up against those versions. I will, however, be giving a detailed look at this very in-depth game and how I’m enjoying playing it on my Switch. Of course, I’d like to thank Paradox Interactive for providing the review key; it’s the early key I’ve gotten I’m most proud to be doing.

This port was brought to fruition by nearly 74,000 backers on Kickstarter, who rightfully believed this was a cause…

Raw Reunion (7/22/19)

What's up everybody? I thought that I might try something different tonight. I have been obsessively watching every Raw, Smackdown, and PPV the WWE has been putting out for the past few years, after falling off watching for quite some time before that. I have tossed around the idea of blogging about Wrestling since it … Continue reading Raw Reunion (7/22/19)

In what was likely the most polarizing game of 2018, Bethesda released this beautiful and terrible masterpiece of unfulfilled potential. I personally have mostly fond memories from the game, but I understand the problems and I would like to take this time to highlight what went well and what went wrong in this blockbuster game that many of us believed might never have existed before the sudden announcement at E3.

I can not remember a game that has been more hated and loved while being ripped to shreds by the majority of the internet since the release of No Man’s Sky, which was met with such an incredible backlash you might have thought the developers were better off not releasing the game at all. I…

Yes, annual. This is something I came up with about a week ago and decided to post as a (very long) series of tweets, which the Well-Red Mage approved as a listicle – my favourite form of laziness! I’ve already started planning how I’m going to prepare next year’s. Do join us again then, when it will be even more detailed. Anyway.

20181117224858_1.jpg Well met, could I interest you in some fresh meat and candles?

I’ve been on a hiatus and am having some trouble getting back into the swing of writing. I believe I’ve finally found the game that’s given me the spark I needed to feel rejuvenated and continue on this blogging adventure: this game, which is published by TinyBuild (publishers of: The Final Station, Punch Club, and Hello Neighbor, among others) & developed by Lazy Bear (creators of the Punch Club games and Swag & Sorcery). This game scratches an itch that hasn’t been scratched for me since Stardew Valley first came out. You get to grind away and gather necessary resources while slowly increasing…
